Colombaio Winery is a symbol of the local community, testifying to the area’s development since 1897, still preserving honours conferred by the Municipality of Monteriggioni for dedication to agriculture.
The estate consists of over 70 hectares of land, including 17 hectares of vineyards as well as olive groves, in addition to the winery. Our winery tours present all the processes involved in making wine and illustrate the various types of wine; we offer technical tastings and pairings with traditional products from Siena, Chianti and Chianti Classico area.
Under the guidance of one of the most highly regarded oenologists, Il Colombaio now makes top-of-the-range wines, primarily from Sangiovese grapes grown right here in Monteriggioni. Sangiovese is the traditional local grape varietal with inexhaustible potential, capable of expressing new sensations thanks to today’s wine-making technologies; perfect as the unrivalled star of today’s flavour revolution.
